Board of Directors Information
The Boards of Directors plays a different role in different organizations.
The Canadian Youth Assembly has a somewhat unique establishment regarding our board. The board for the CYA exists to help plan the long term goals for the organization. They look at the overall mission and goals which the organization is ultimately striving towards and set out the long term steps which they believe will move the organization toward attaining those goals.
The volunteers are involved in the day to day operations of the organization and therefore have far more knowledge regarding the day to day practices, operations, and understanding within the CYA. The board relies heavily on the input and advice from the volunteers for this reason.
A full description of the role of the CYA board is outlined in the CYA bylaws (a link to the document page is at the bottom of the website).
If you have read the bylaws and understand the position you may apply to become a member of the board. The process for dealing with the applications is outlined in the bylaws and on the forum. Potential board members are expected to have a thorough understanding of the CYA and its operations. They are expected to have been involved in the organization for some time.
Individuals with little or no knowledge of the organization will not be accepted as candidates.
